JSMC invites applications for a PhD Fellowship on the topic Chemical crosstalk among bacterial
predators
The genus Lysobacter constitutes a physiologically unique group of organisms within the
proteobacteria that practices wolf pack behavior to prey on other microbes. The research project is focused on the identification and characterisation of chemical factors that trigger or mediate
group predation using methods of molecular biology and analytical chemistry.
We expect:
- a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Biochemistry or Chemistry. Candidates about
to earn their degree are welcome to apply.
- high motivation and interest to join one of the interdisciplinary research areas of JSMC
- creativity and interest to shape your own thesis project
- an integrative and cooperative personality
- very good communication skills in English (instruction language at JSMC)
